Rules of the Studio
Rules in art class? I know, I know...unbelievable! ;) Seriously, though....art can be dangerous! In the studio, we use a lot of dangerous tools and flammable liquids. We use craft knives, exacto blades and sharp scissors. When using any of these or similar tools, it is especially important that you do NOT run through the studio. Also, you should never leave your fingertips or other body parts in the path of a sharp blade...cut away from your body! When using flammable or toxic liquids, like paint thinner, you must never pour waste chemicals down the drain. Instead, you need to pour your waste liquid into the waste barrel that is located near the exit door. When working with strong chemicals, be sure to take frequent breaks and get fresh air. Lastly, there is absolutely no eating or drinking in the studio. We do not want to accidentally ruin someone else's work, but more importantly, a lot of the stuff we work with is toxic when ingested. We do not want to accidentally put oil paint (some colors contain lead) into our mouths because we couldn't wait to eat that bag of chips. Use nitrile gloves when working with oil-based paints or harsh chemicals and remember to wash your hands thoroughly before eating or drinking.
Come Prepared for Class...Make sure that you bring the needed supplies & that you have done your work before coming to class. You will have time to work in class, but our limited time is often insufficient. You do not want to have to rush your next work of art! ;)

Makeup Work PolicyThere will be no makeup opportunities for unexcused absences. If an absence is excused, I will give you two weeks from the date of absence to make up any exams or assigned work. It is up to the student to arrange for makeup work. I will not pursue the student about makeup work. Grades not made up will receive a zero.
